CBS 2 / WLNY-TV / CBSN NEW YORK is looking for a TV Studio Maintenance Engineer!


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Troubleshoots electronic equipment to a component (hardware/software) level, works with equipment manufacturer to correct problems.
  • Order all necessary required parts for repair of all equipment and communicate successfully with vendors, station management, and staff.
  • Isolate and fix problems with broadcast servers and associated applications.
  • Manage server administration, LAN & VLAN configuration and installation of updates.
  • Installation, testing and implementation of projects, terminating HD SDI cables, RF cables, network data and fiber optic cables.
  • Work with vendors and manufacturers to research and address support issue.
  • Work independently at times and collaboratively with other engineering team members is critical.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors, IT certification or technical school, desirable. Network certifications are a plus.
  • 5-10 years of experience as a television broadcast engineer, or equivalent.
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays and in emergency situations, as we are a 24/7 news operation
  • Knowledge of common HD television station equipment.
  • Video routing systems, Installation, testing and implementation of projects, terminating HD SDI cables, RF cables, network data and fiber optic cables.
  • Read and create AV signal flow diagrams, document project design work and see projections through to completion.
  • Knowledge of integrated receiver decoders IRDs, core devices, edge devices, timing of video and audio systems, audio and video media file formats is a necessity.
  • Knowledge of Evertz frame control via VistaLink or Magnum, Grass Valley Densite frame control, ITX, Harmonic encoders, Nielsen (NACAT), EEG VANC equipment, Linear Acoustics, EAS systems, Grass Valley Stratus/K2 servers.
  • Working knowledge of AVID, iNews, communications equipment (Bosch/RTS), robotic camera pedestals, Sony studio cameras, Sony digital production switchers. Core HD/IP, SMPTE 2110 router knowledge is a plus!
  • Familiarity with IP interface networking, active directory, software deployment utilities such as Bigfix or SCCM, basic Linux/Unix commands.
  • Ability to work in a team setting.

Hiring Salary Range: $50,888.00 - 122,400.00. 

 

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.  The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable,  as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
