Overview:

Brand Partnerships and Sponsorship Strategy (BPSS) is a central team within Velocity. We have tight communication with our internal Brand leads, and we play a meaningful role is developing sales strategy around Franchise offerings, Tentpoles, Original Programming and turnkey operations. BPSS acts as liaison with Sales, Velocity Pitch and Activation, Pricing and Inventory and Paramount Media Network divisions (Programming, Consumer Marketing, Promos, Comms, Research) to develop sponsorships that span the portfolio and drive maximum revenue. Our team is mindful of bringing meaningful and thoughtful opportunities to Madison Ave that will set us apart in the industry. We also track advertisers, elements, and revenue for each sponsorship opportunity. This is critical for internal reporting, separating competitive issues, monitoring sell outs (supply vs demand) and encouraging sales based on category demand.

Reporting to the SVP of BPSS, the Senior Director will be an experienced leader managing a group of networks (MTV, MTV2, VH1, Comedy Central, Logo) regarding sponsorship offerings, strategic alignment with network vision and sales efforts.

They will help develop sponsorship strategy that will help achieve maximum revenue and prove valuable to advertisers. This involves communication with all sales departments and tight alignment with Paramount Media Networks exec teams.

The Senior Director will play a meaningful role in sales comms. This means developing the appropriate sales materials (with design teams), informing team of upcoming news and info from the networks, creating bi-weekly sales meeting agendas, and crafting the Upfront and Fall presentations. Evolving and incorporating change is critical to the Senior Director role. This person will lean into change as an opportunity and not a challenge.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead all aspects of communication to the team and sales of programming updates and priorities
  • Coordinate team management and advise on elements for sponsorship activations of tentpoles, special events and priorities
  • Counsel on maximizing scatter opportunities via sponsorship
  • Advise on UF marketing allocations (via conversations with sales staff and Integrated Marketing)
  • Attend client meetings on an as needed basis only
  • Coordinate tracking of upfront and scatter sponsorship commitments
  • Field convergent vetting requests for all Viacom IP originals (linear, convergent, digital-only)
  • Direct internal communication to sales of tentpoles, super franchises, special events and priority originals
  • Meet with digital client solutions on priorities and advise on materials
  • Attend convergent/digital sales meetings to communicate priorities
  • Schedule priority releases and material deliverables across sales meetings
  • Strategic design of campaign architectures for tentpoles, super franchises, special events and priority originals; including package design/elements, pricing and cost review
  • Lead team POVs on RFP requests, including category avails, priorities, pricing, elements, strategy
  • Advise on convergent elements and pricing for all digital-led opportunities for Viacom IP franchises
  • Lead all aspects of compliance and category conflicts for tentpoles and key originals

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree with 10+ years of sales, marketing, or media agency experience
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, collaboration and presentation skills
  • Solid understanding of sales, branded content, and integrated marketing
