Nickelodeon Animation Studio is looking for a Senior Previs Artist for a Feature Animation. Strong knowledge of Maya is needed. The ideal candidate is compassionate and an outstanding teammate.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Setting the initial composition, staging, and cameras
  • Interpreting and translating 2D hand-drawn storyboards and animatics into cinematic 3D CG sequences that represent the film
  • Helping to creatively seek technical and aesthetic problems as the production progresses from storyboards to 3D
  • Establishing a locale and define mood through sets and shot selection
  • Presenting and working with Story, Art, and Editorial personnel
  • Communicating with individuals involved throughout the animation process regarding technical specifications and creative beats
  • Adhering to tight production schedules
  • Taking and implementing creative feedback from Previs Supervisor, Director, and Production Designer
  • Reporting daily to the Production Manager for scheduling

 

Qualifications

 

  • Previous production experience or exceptional artistic skills/abilities in CG preferred
  • 5+ years of previs/layout experience is required
  • Ability to communicate with all members of the production team required
  • A high degree of technical and creative output as a CG generalist in a collaborative environment preferred
  • A good understanding of physical lenses and camera work required
  • Proficiency with GL hardware lighting is helpful
  • A proven understanding of the principles of Staging and Composition required
  • Expertise level of Maya required
  • Understanding of sequence shot construction and editing required
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience desired
  • Strong Character Animation and posing experience required
  • Experience with Rough Modeling and basic rigging preferred
