As a Software Engineer will be driving features and initiatives within our engineering team, and with the many other teams we work with in the broader engineering organization at CBS Sports and Paramount.
 

Role Details:

CBSSports.com is looking for an experienced Software Engineer for our CBSSports.com engineering team. To be successful at this job, you need to bring a winning spirit, technical architecture skills, and excellent leadership skills.
 

Your-Day-to-Day:

  • Develop new business-led features with an emphasis on full stack video functionality

  • Deploy periodic site updates to QA, stage, and production environments

  • Participating in code reviews, writing well written documentation and organizing group learning sessions
     

Candidate must have:

  • Strong experience designing and implementing maintainable, scalable, and pragmatic software solutions from the ground up.

  • Experience with microservices and distributed systems architectures.

  • Experience with REST APIs.

  • Experience with technical writing and design documentation.

  • Strong communication with proven ability to work well within a team.

  • Experience with integrating and adapting 3rd-party solutions.

  • Software in one or more languages: Javascript, Node.JS, C++, PHP

  • Experience in developing, managing and modifying AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, DynamoDB)

  • Experience in delivering medium to long term strategic technologies and processes impacting multiple platforms.

  • Experience in research, debugging, prototyping and effectively demonstrating proof of concepts.

  • Experience in effectively working in remote development.

Candidate would also ideally have experience with some of the following:

  • Developing or modifying code on one or more TV based platforms: TVOS, FireTV, Roku, webOS.

  • General cloud experience, AWS preferred but GCP and Azure acceptable.

  • Third party sign-on OAuth providers and implementation.

  • Video formats HLS,MPEG-Dash, video streaming workflows and encryption models.

  • Digital Rights Management Systems (DRM), including Playready, Widevine & FairPlay

  • Trick-mode / DVR functionality with video streams.

  • 3rd party video player or related libraries.

  • Angular and React development experience.
