KTVT/KTXA has an opening for a Broadcast Maintenance Engineer with project management skills.  This position will be under the supervision of the broadcast engineering manager.  This position requires a candidate with broad experience and skills in troubleshooting complex systems and infrastructure.  The ideal candidate has a balanced mix of IT and hardware skills as well as a superhuman need to organize and document project and system roll out.  

Primary Responsibilities:
•    Day to day maintenance, installation, commissioning, and decommissioning of broadcast infrastructure and equipment.
•    Working with the department leadership and other stake holders, create project timelines and plans, and help keep those projects on track.
•    Keep a calendar of required maintenance of systems, including necessary equipment reboots.
•    Preform production/operations roll necessary as directed by engineering management.
•    Mentor and guide less experienced engineers and interns.
•    On call response as assigned and needed for station operations.
•    Other duties as assigned.

Necessary Skills
•    A sound engineering foundation with the ability to solve and repair complex television broadcast systems.
•    Strong technical background in video transmission and transmitters, newsroom systems, ingest, wireless and cellular bonded technologies, automation systems, microwave, master control, satellite, streaming, control room, studio and field operations, and IP technology.
•    Understanding of RF transmission and technology.
•    Candidate must be a self-starter and highly organized.
•    Strong project execution and coordination skills.
•    Strong verbal and written skills, with the ability to successfully communicate and work with other members of the engineering staff, station employees, management, and outside vendors in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
•    Ability to train fellow engineers and users in new systems, technologies, procedures, and techniques.

Minimum education and experience
•    5+ years of experience as a television broadcast engineer, or equivalent.
•    College degree in Engineering/IT or SBE Certification, preferred.
•    Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays and in emergency situations, as we are a 24/7 news operation.
•    The ability to work both independently and with the engineering team.
•    Knowledge and experience working with but not limited to SONY automation, switchers, cameras, media servers, Grass Valley non-linear editing systems, Telestream transcoding products, Chyron graphics systems, Video routers, RTS intercoms, and Harmonic encoders.
•    Knowledge of and understanding of FCC rules and regulations.
•    Familiarity with IP networking, active directory, and software deployment utilities.
•    Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications including Visio
