Is this the role for you?

Media Planning’s role is to manage Paramount UK & Ireland’s owned promotional airtime to speak to audiences in the most effective and targeted way possible, across all channels and platforms. The department works closely with our Scheduling, Marketing, Creative, Research and Business Development teams to drive ratings and revenue, showcase our breadth of content and strengthen brand perception.


This role will be responsible for the planning, implementation and analysis of highly audience-focused, creative, effective promotional campaigns across the most high-profile channels across the Paramount UK portfolio. As Senior Media Planner, you will act as a peer lead for the Kids Media Planners and be the key liaison between the team and the Head of MP Kids.


What will you be doing?

  • Plan and implement optimal promotional campaigns in What’s On for at least one of the Paramount UK channels, achieving comms targets and tonal flow for all host channel and cross promotional messages
  • Using the TE Optimiser tool, ensure all promo supply is accurately quantified and all promotional demand is accurately managed to improve the optimiser output
  • Work closely with Head of MP Kids to ensure weekly promo inventory is monitored and accurately quantified to fuel the prioritization process. Also assist in identifying prioritization solutions from the various channel and platform demands
  • Represent Head of MP Kids in meetings/calls when they are unavailable, covering essential duties in their absence, for example, updating the On Air Laydown, CHOPs calls, Pres meetings, On Air
  • Plan and manage the navigational media plan for at least one of the Paramount UK channels, ensuring all tools are used to support the promotional priorities and drive viewer retention across the schedule
  • Work closely with the Continuity Producer to ensure navigational priorities are communicated and key messages are included in scripts
  • Work closely with Presentation/CHOPs to ensure our promotional supply in WON reflects the priority demand, finalise promotional plans, communicate navigation requirements and ensure the timely handover of transmission schedules which are accurate, editorially sound and OFCOM compliant
  • Communicate daily with Creative & Production to ensure the timely sign off, compliance and delivery of all promotional material, adapting to changes as and when necessary
  • Using laydown information, create promotional assets weekly within WON/create monthly promotional campaign makelists, detailing time-length and versioning requirements
  • Use research systems to monitor campaign delivery and report on final results. Conduct in depth post campaign reviews to gather learnings and ensure future best practice
  • Compose campaign laydowns for key property launches, detailing TVR, Reach and Frequency metrics for support across all channels
  • Liaise with Content Legal and Compliance teams to ensure all promotional assets are compliant and that interpretations of SWC and SAT NK are backed up by audience data for each channel
  • Manage the cross-promotional inventory with Sky and Sky VOD, sharing plans and assets and using data to inform future campaigns
  • Contribute to any promotional trials or media planning functionality developments across O&O services
  • Model and assess impact of sponsorship scenarios, reporting on delivery for Sponsorship team
  • Keep a keen eye on and share competitor activity/industry news


What are we looking for?

  • Media planning experience in TV broadcast and VOD environment, using a channel management system to create and schedule promotional assets
  • Proven knowledge of BARB and media analysis tools (Infosys/Techedge) and techniques to conduct research
  • Proven experience in effectively and diplomatically dealing with a range of departments and levels within an organisation
  • Experience in presenting to a wide range of audiences
  • Demonstrable understanding of the editorial and transmission requirements of a TV schedule
  • Experience in developing new systems and processes
  • Demonstrable understanding of the commercial broadcast marketplace
  • Outstanding eye for detail, numeracy and organisational skills
  • Super organized with the ability to prioritize and co-ordinate a combination of roles, and work under time pressure
  • Ability to take responsibility and work on own initiative
  • Fast, methodical and accurate
  • Team player with ‘can do’ attitude
