We are looking for an EHS Technician to join our team!! This position is responsible for assisting the department with ensuring compliance with applicable local, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations.

This is not a production related role!!

Responsibilities:

The EHS Technician will assist with a broad range of environmental health and safety programs (IIPP, Confined Space, In Use on Road, etc.) to stay in compliance with associated regulations (CAL/OHSA, FED OSHA, SCAQMD, CARB, DOT, NFPA70E, etc.). As well as assist with permitting, monitoring, and reporting in compliance with local and federal agencies both onsite and off-site locations.

The EHS Technician will interpret governmental rules, regulations, ordinances and codes and respond to requests of EHS concerns on a day-to-day basis, including requests for indoor air quality testing, water damage, asbestos and lead sampling, and PPE, fall protection. They will arrange and conduct facility EHS trainings, maintain records and attend facilities meetings.

The EHS Technician will own the LOTO program, including developing machine/equipment specific LOTO procedures, as well as maintain and review existing LOTO procedures. They will also be responsible for all aspects of hazardous waste storage and disposal including characterizing, labeling and packaging hazardous waste for shipment according to State, US EPA & DOT regulations. They will prepare and maintain all required documentation.

The EHS Technician will lead the HAZWOPER team, handle all spill response activities and is responsible for coordinating spill response activities with Facilities personnel. They will run Paramount’s asbestos and lead sampling program as well as schedule abatements, abatement oversight and emergency abatements as necessary. They will conduct regular EHS inspections (hazardous waste cages, satellite accumulation areas, first aid kits, blood borne pathogens kits, machine guarding) to ensure compliance with federal, state and local environmental regulations. They will also lead Paramount’s Recordkeeping Program and participate in accident investigations and lead all aspects of corrective actions.

They will maintain Paramount’s personal protective equipment inventory and recommend purchases and inspect PPE to ensure appropriate PPE is available. They will conduct a variety of Industrial Hygiene sampling, as needed and serve as a Fall Protection Competent Person for Paramount. They will maintain calibration of EHS monitoring equipment and own the Contractor Safety program. The EHS Technician will also:

  • Assist in leading the day to day activities of the Paramount Rideshare Program.
  • Implement and monitor the safety incentive program and participate routinely in recognition and reward of employees.
  • Track employee medical surveillance and ensures compliance to the regulations.
  • Manage, review, and update EHS forms and evaluate the effectiveness of current programs, policies and procedures on an annual basis.
  • Develop, analyze and implement Job Safety Analysis (JSAs) for processes and for machine specific equipment.
  • Conduct Respiratory Fit testing as required by the regulation and when requested by an employee for both onsite and off-site locations.
  • Audit the SDS database to ensure accuracy and makes adjustments as necessary.
  • Participate in the CERT team and emergency response teams at the location.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with Backlot Departments, Facilities, Studio Fire Department, and Studio Security Department
  • Participate in strenuous physical activities relating to environmental, health and safety including, but not limited to, various climbing assignments

Basic qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental, health and safety or related field with a minimum 2-years experience performing boots on the ground safety oversight, implementing, and coordinating aspects related to an environmental, health and safety program
  • No Bachelor’s degree - Equivalent experience (6 years performing boots on the ground safety oversight and coordinating aspects related to an environmental, health and safety program)
  • Must be willing to travel

Desired Qualifications:

  • Strong initiative and independent judgment in routine and emergency situations.
  • Strong computer skills required (e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
  • Broad knowledge of environmental, health and safety regulations, and the ability to review, understand and interpret regulatory standards
  • Excellent oral and written skills and an ability to effectively communicate ideas in a clear, concise, and professional manner
  • Capable of working independently without extensive direction or oversight
  • Ability to conduct formal training sessions
  • Strong planning, organizing, and leadership skills
  • Ability to carry out multiple assignments concurrently
  • Fall Protection Competent preferred
