With aggressive goals that include the expansion of our US Operations and a commitment to Internationalization and Interplanetary entertainment, Pluto TV is growing the Architecture Team to scale for the incredible road ahead!

The ideal candidate has a passion for ensuring the security and integrity of a highly visible and massively scaled consumer service.

In this role you will design systems and processes to provide answers to the following questions and more:

  • How do we ensure our services are only accessible to authorized applications and 3rd-party partners?
  • How do we protect our infrastructure from nefarious attacks?
  • How do we secure access to our confidential data through the software stack?
  • How do we enforce security and compliance best practices through our software development life cycle?
  • What security-relevant design patterns should we apply to our services architecture?
  • What data is safe to send across data centers, and what data should not be sent?
  • Is it safe?



Responsibilities Include:

  • Contributing to the roadmap for infrastructure and back end APIs
  • Guiding the introduction of new technologies to support Pluto TV’s growing security needs
  • Understanding the current system and suggesting areas that need improvement for security purposes
  • Implementing example or shared code to show and ensure security best practices
  • Mentoring other engineers to strengthen design and implementation decisions



Qualities / Experience We’re Seeking

We believe the right individual will have the following skills and experience in order to be successful:

  • 4+ years working as a Cloud Architect, MicroService Architect or Scaling Architect for products that have scaled to 100Ks or millions of simultaneous users.
  • 3+ years designing solutions with peers or solo
  • 2+ years experience with at least one Cloud Services provider (AWS, GCP, Azure etc)
  • 3+ years debugging insecure services in production environments



Additional Qualifications

  • Skilled in the art of compromise
  • Familiarity with AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, Serverless, CI/CD pipelines, Logging systems (eg Loggly, Splunk, ELK), APM
  • AWS Certified Security - Specialty, or equivalent
  • Will know how decisions made will affect system components at multiple levels across the Pluto TV software stack.
  • Is a Subject Matter Expert in Cloud Security Architecture and micro service technologies and processes
