(SNI) owns and operates the premium television networks SHOWTIME®, THE MOVIE CHANNEL™ and FLIX®, and also offers SHOWTIME ON DEMAND®, THE MOVIE CHANNEL™ ON DEMAND and FLIX ON DEMAND®, and the network's authentication service SHOWTIME ANYTIME®. Showtime Digital Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of SNI, operates the stand-alone streaming service SHOWTIME®. SHOWTIME is currently available to subscribers via cable, DBS, and telco providers, and as a stand-alone streaming service through Amazon, Apple®, Google, LG Smart TVs, Oculus Go, Roku®, Samsung Smart TVs and Xbox One.

 

Showtime Networks is seeking a top Android Engineer. We are looking for someone
ideally with full stack application experience who is hardworking, innovative,
self‐motivated, a quick learner, and eager to develop new skills. In this position, you will
take a key role in developing our award‐winning SHOWTIME stand-alone streaming
service and Showtime Anytime applications across multiple Android‐based platforms,
including phone, tablet, Android TV, Fire Tablet and Amazon Fire TV.

 

At Showtime, we’re crafting the future of television, pushing onto new platforms... And
along the way, we get to play with some incredible tech. Ideally, you will reside within
commuting distance to the New York City area for occasional onsite work. Fully remote
candidates will also be considered.
 

Responsibilities:
• Hands on software development on the Android Mobile/Android TV/Amazon
Kindle/Amazon Fire TV platforms
• Design, develop, test, and deliver high quality, maintainable software for new
features as well as for maintaining, integrating, and improving existing solutions
• Work as part of an Agile team to deliver high quality applications
• Collaborate with the product team to understand and deliver on their
requirements

 

Skills we look for:
• Experience programming in Java and Kotlin to deliver high quality, maintainable
software
• Experience with Jetpack Architecture Components, RxJava or other reactive
frameworks
• Experience following and implementing software design patterns
• Experience with unit testing and test-driven development
• Able to work with in an agile process
• Great communication and collaboration skills, with a strong partnership ethic
• Eye for quality and user experience

 

Basic qualifications:
• 2+ years Kotlin and Java experience developing Android Applications
• Have shipped one or more apps to the Google Play and/or Amazon app store
• Great communication and collaboration skills, with a strong partnership ethic
• Is independent, upbeat, and capable

 

Bonus Qualifications:
• Full stack‐developer who can work on both the front‐end and back‐end of an
application
• Experience with Exoplayer, streaming video, codecs, and DRM
• Google or Amazon In-App purchase implementation
