CBS Mornings is seeking a smart, creative, and enterprising Broadcast Associate to join the team.

The ideal candidate is collaborative, detail-oriented, with exceptional newsgathering, organizational, and multi-tasking skills. They can keep a calm head under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude.

This Broadcast Associate will be part of our morning Hard News team that works with producers and editors to craft day-of-air tape pieces for the morning’s broadcast – including launching reports, breaking news, fixing, or finalizing existing pieces (i.e.. adding fresh elements, graphics, tracks), and cutting pretapes, teases, clips and broll.

 

Schedule: This is an overnight in-person position leading up to our live broadcast, schedule is Monday – Friday from 3AM– 11AM with ability to work alternate shifts as needed

 

Responsibilities:

  • General news desk duties (answer the phone to coordinate with studio, control room, etc.)
  • Gather elements (feeds, archives, video, stills, statements, graphics) for tape reports, readers, debriefs, and live interviews
  • Gather and cut with editor elements (video and stills) for our What to Watch and Talk of the Table franchise series
  • Clearing material through Rights & Clearances

 

Qualifications:

  • Internship or comparable experience working on a news broadcast
  • College degree desired
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment under intense deadline pressure
  • Effective communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills
  • Strong research skills (tracking down data and visual material)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

 

Hiring Salary Range: $42,400.00 - 50,000.00. 

 

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.  The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable,  as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
