Overview and Responsibilities

The CBS Studio Controllership Group is seeking a Director of Accounting to join their growing team! As the Director, you will assist in leading an operational accounting team under a hybrid working model, responsible for monthly/quarterly accounting close process, and accurate preparation of financial accounting results and management reporting for multiple entities. You will report to the CBS Studios VP, Financial Reporting & Analysis.

•    Responsible for the overall accounting operations, including accounting close process, and accurate preparation of financial accounting results and management reporting, which includes review of journal entries and monthly reconciliations to ensure accurate account balances.
•    Ensure transactions are recorded, documented, reviewed, and supported in accordance with company policies, generally accepted accounting principles and internal controls.
•    Prepare accurate and timely completion of all monthly financial reporting statements and ensure all accounting policies and entries are made in accordance with GAAP.
•    Lead and assist in preparing the quarterly performance results package for Corporate Division, including balance sheet, P&L variance analyses and 10Q / 10K disclosures.
•    Review TV inventory, quarterly asset roll-forwards, as well as negative inventory review, in-process inventory review and re-classes.
•    Review of classification of TV inventory balances at the title level for internal / external reporting.
•    Review and approve monthly / quarterly journal entries to record co-producers’ revenue statements or revenue estimates net of applicable expenses, as well as co-production revenue accruals on shared titles where applicable.
•    Review monthly / quarterly production tax credit accrual reconciliations, while working closely with the Tax Department, Production Finance, and Planning teams.
•    Proactively collaborate with corporate management to resolve quarterly questions.
•    Support and work closely with internal and external auditors leading audit inquiries, including facilitating and organizing the necessary deliverables.
•    Assist in performing the internal controls and oversee execution and testing of controls to ensure overall compliance with SOX requirements
•    Participate and assist in identifying process improvement opportunities and build efficiencies into existing reporting routines
•    Participate in the implementation of a new ERP system, allowing for strong reporting and internal controls
•    Build and update periodic and ad hoc presentations for executive management.
•    Lead, coach, develop and own a performance-oriented accounting team.


Basic Qualifications:
•    8+ years of dynamic Accounting/Finance experience, including 4+ years of manager-level experience.
•    Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting required.
•    Media Entertainment / Studio experience highly preferred.


Additional Qualifications:
•    CPA is a plus.
•    Working knowledge of ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
•    Ability to work autonomously and thrive in a fast-paced environment and lead multiple responsibilities under tight time frames.
•    Ability to communicate, build strong relationships and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
•    Strong technical, analytical, problem-solving skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to prioritize.
•    Excellent written and oral communication skills.
•    Have a positive attitude, be flexible and be willing to learn new things and train others as needed.

•    Ability to quickly learn new software applications, databases, and reporting tools.
