Role Details:
Working on the CBS News Engineering team, the candidate will be responsible for frontend engineering aspects of The candidate should love to solve problems and develop code with the most efficient solution in mind. In addition, in this role the candidate will work closely with other engineers and product management teams to meet fixed deadlines.


Your Day-to-Day:
Being a full member of the agile team, you will take part in all regular meetings and plannings. You will work both independently and together with the other team members on assigned tasks and projects that will fit your skills and abilities. Additionally, you will participate in code reviews, set the tone for system design, and mentor team members. This position offers you to grow both professionally and personally, and career growth potential.


What you bring to the team:
You have –

  • BS/BA degree in a technical field such as Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years product software development
  • 5+ years of experience leading a team of software engineers
  • 5+ years of experience of systems architecture and designing workflows
  • Expert hands-on knowledge of TypeScript, JavaScript, ES6, CSS, Sass/LESS, HTML
  • Strong PHP ability, including exposure to Symfony PHP and  other industry-standard MVC frameworks
  • Strong understanding of caching and caching strategies
  • Extensive experience using REST APIs and JSON data.
  • Good fundamentals in all aspects of the frontend development
  • Familiarity with using version control systems. (Git).
  • Strong experience working with Nginx, Docker, and S3 with a solid background in Linux
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Agile development


You might also have:

  • MySQL experience
  • Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, cloud environments (GCP, AWS, etc.)
  • Experience with video streaming
  • Experience with Chromecast application development
  • Experience with Cloud based technologies such as Helm, Kubernetes, Jenkins, AWS
  • Solid focus on web performance, with a mentality of constant improvement
  • Understanding of Object Oriented Programming, Design, data structures, and algorithms.
