The CBS Evening News is seeking a bold and creative Executive Producer with strong leadership skills to prepare and execute a fast-paced daily broadcast. The EP constantly communicates with management, anchors, correspondents, and producers to execute a winning strategy. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of team leadership with cross-departmental collaborative skills, strong journalistic judgment, and the ability to flourish in a competitive environment. You must be comfortable in a fast-paced newsroom with the ability to anticipate and respond quickly to change. 



  • Oversee producing and writing of evening newscasts, including oversight on story selection, content, and production
  • Work with management and the evening news team to create innovative news content across all platforms in an audience-first environment; ability to think differently and critically.
  • Manage a highly skilled team of anchors, producers, writers and correspondents throughout the editorial process and make solid decisions in breaking news situations
  • Lead a team that produces urgent newscasts in a fast-paced work environment
  • Coach, develop and train a team of Producers; support a positive work culture
  • Collaborate with Newscast Producers, Crews, Digital Producers, Editors, and the Assignment Desk to select and cover stories
  • Strong news judgment and working knowledge of current events and community issues




  • 5+ years of show producing at a network news outlet
  • Ability to set and communicate show vision and strategy
  • Proven ability to lead and execute strong breaking news coverage
  • Demonstrated success building, developing, and leading a large, diverse team of people
  • Experience managing data and ratings
  • A track record in multi-platform content production and distribution
  • Field and segment production experience
  • Must be able to interact well with video journalists, anchors, videographers, news managers, production, and engineering staff
  • Superior writing and copyediting skills
  • Strong written and verbal communicator
  • Ability to work nights and weekends based on breaking news
  • Possess technical skills, strategic thinking/decision making
  • Strong knowledge of competitive space
  • Experience working with marketing teams
