Overview and Responsibilities


MTV Entertainment is looking for a hard-working and experienced Manager to join the Analytics team! The role is primarily responsible for analyzing MTVE performance and the competitive landscape across all linear, digital, and social places our content lives. Reporting into the Senior Director of Strategic Insights and Research, the position requires a deep understanding of linear analysis and reporting, knowledge of digital and social metrics, and a passion for the television landscape and industry. Through the use of various research techniques, this person will provide insights and recommendations to various departments across the organization, contributing to the goals and success of various brands.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain applicable television audience reports and processes to help gain insights in an efficient and meaningful way.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret Nielsen data and other consumer tracking sources for ad-hoc requests and for recurring reports, including daily, weekly, and quarterly ratings reports for channels and competitors.
  • In a key client service role, provide thoughtful analyses and recommendations to channel executives including programming, press, marketing, acquisitions, and development, based on their objectives/requirements.
  • Build custom analysis such as: media planning, viewing behavior, audience affinity.
  • Collaborate with digital and social analytics colleagues on cross-platform initiatives, including development and tracking of content viewership and brand engagement across platforms and devices.
  • Effectively visualize and present data and insights to key partners.
  • Critical thinking and presentation of industry news and concepts relating to the evolving media landscape.
  • Serve as a go-to research partner within the team and across the organization.

 

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of related experience (TV ratings and Nielsen measurement currency) preferably at TV network brand
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Strong understanding of the media industry and the role of research
  • Curiosity about developing skills around multiplatform analytics
  • Confidence working with numbers, including large sets of data, and Excel
  • Good PowerPoint skills and some experience with presenting

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to immediately recognize tasks and complete accordingly.
  • Interest and expertise in research methodology, competitive TV landscape, emerging media technology.
