We are seeing a Data Engineer that possesses a deep sense of curiosity and a passion for building smart products based on data, and the ability to communicate data structures and tools throughout the ViacomCBS Ad Tech organization. The perfect candidate for this role will use their skills in engineering and analytics to deliver data-driven products for the Ad Technology team and support data pipelines for teams across the organization.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and support data pipelines, warehouses, and reporting systems to solve business operations, users, and product problems.
  • Build, extract, transform, and load (ETLs) and reporting systems for new data using large-scale distributed data systems.
  • Support, optimize and improve current processes and products
  • Collaborate with partners and support engineers to ensure our data infrastructure meets constantly evolving requirements.
  • Collaborate with Engineers, Product Managers, and Product Analysts to understand product goals and data needs
  • Write and review technical documents, including design, development, and revision documents


Basic qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with one general-purpose programming language (e.g., Python, Java, C/C++).
  • Experience crafting data models and data warehouses and using SQL database management systems.


Preferred qualifications and skills:

  • Experience in collaborating with individuals and organizations
  • Experience crafting data models
  • Experience writing and maintaining ETLs that operate on a variety of structured and unstructured sources.
  • Experience in traditional and large-scale distributed data processing (e.g. Spark, Dataflow, Airflow).
  • Familiarity with SQL to perform common types of analysis.
  • Experience with Databricks.
  • Experience with AWS (IAM, S3, EC2) and GCP (GCS, BigQuery, DataProc)
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
