EVENING SUPERVISING PRODUCER, CBS Mornings
The Supervising Producer must be a top-tier journalist and creative thinker with previous experience in live television news. This position is managed by the 8a Senior Producer. The candidate should also have experience crafting day-of-air pieces and live segments and an understanding of the building and timing of a rundown. This person works with some of the younger producers on the staff, so the person must be a strong writer and have experience in helping producers shape and write pieces. This Supervising Producer will work closely with the evening Seniors Producers in making sure the next day’s show is buttoned up. This is a late afternoon into nightside position.

JOB DESCRIPTION: 

• Manage and edit day-of-air pieces and interview briefs for live segments.
• Work closely with the evening and overnight senior producers to launch breaking stories and help producers polish segments and features
• Review and edit content  including pitches, pre-production, scripts, question documents, and screenings. 
• Work closely with broadcast producers and management regarding upcoming stories and ongoing projects.
• Monitor and evaluate a range of performance metrics and devise creative, innovative strategies to improve engagement and build our presence on current and emerging platforms. 
• Collaborate with social and digital teams as well as marketing, public revelations and other CBS entities.

QUALIFICATIONS: 
• Strong editorial judgment. 
• Strong background in writing, copy editing, and video production. 
• 5+ years of journalism experience at a broadcast network, cable, or digital news company. 
• Demonstrated ability to make editorial decisions under time pressure and oversee all aspects of production
• Must be able to work an extended schedule as the news cycle and deadlines require; Must be willing to work during evening hours
• Proven track record of team management with a positive culture. 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
• Some experience shooting and editing
• Digital Storytelling

REQUIRED EDUCATION: 
• Bachelor’s degree
