This Editorial Assistant will report to a VP Editorial Director for the children's licensing division. Responsibilities include scheduling meetings, routing materials both in-house and to authors and licensors and liaising with all departments in all facets of book production, from concept to publication. Management of manuscripts in all stages of production includes: preparing manuscripts for copyediting and production; reviewing books in all stages of production, managing schedules of books in the production and editorial process; and liaising with authors/agents/illustrators and licensors and other departments in a professional manner. The Editorial Assistant takes part in all creative meetings and will contribute ideas for manuscripts, programs, and formats as well as evaluate submissions. The Editorial Assistant may be asked to write some manuscripts in house. This is a fast-paced imprint with many accelerated schedules, so individual must be able to juggle multiple projects and prioritize tasks as well as have an interest in media for children.

Bachelor's degree required
Excellent communication and writing skills

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to think creatively and contribute editorial and format ideas and concepts
Writing experience preferred
An interest in licensed publishing
