Producer, CBS News Confirmed

CBS News is seeking a dynamic and hardworking Producer for its newly developed CBS News Confirmed team. Many external factors present new and existential threats to our credibility and to the trust our audiences place in us, so this team represents a solution to ensuring truth in our storytelling. This dedicated team of verification and fact check experts is committed to the highest journalistic standards that we pioneered and continue to set in the digital age.

The ideal candidate will be data driven, curious, have a firm command of journalistic standards and have a keen attention to detail with excellent newsgathering and researching skills. You must be able and willing to work newsroom hours, which includes nights, weekends and holidays – especially around critical political events.

The duties of the Producer, CBS News Confirmed will include, but will not be limited to:

• Selecting relevant content based on research and data.
• Developing copy for reporting as needed.
• Understanding where and how to pull specific video footage and soundbites as necessary.
• Participate in interdepartmental brainstorms, offering feedback and perspective.

Candidate qualifications:

• Degree or equivalent experience in journalism, communications or related

• 1 to 3 years of social media or newsroom experience
• Demonstrated interest and proficiency in covering technology, business, politics and other current events in a strong, yet, unbiased way
• Deep familiarity with broadcast, social media platforms, audiences, and standard processes
• Experience in video verification and fact checking
• Ability to multitask and perform at the highest levels under stress and tight deadlines
• Great teammate who is able to work with a diverse group of people
• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays
• Strong writing, grammar and AP style background

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Hiring Salary Range: $110,000.00 - 140,000.00. 

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.  The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable,  as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
