CBS Sports is looking for a Senior Technical Project Manager (STPM) to lead our iOS and Android Sports App team and its SDLC to achieve success in sports business or company-wide goals and initiatives!


The STPM will support a 10-person engineering development team that builds the mobile apps. The STPM is responsible for the SDLC from inception through completion of projects, identifying and implementing processes, crafting reports for the team and department collaborators, planning releases, prioritizing and maintaining team/project document repositories. The TPM will evangelize standard methodologies on agile processes including deep dives with other PMs and BU leads and collaborators when needed. The TPM should have enough technical knowledge to follow discussions about the implementations and consider possible conflicts or outside dependencies and impacts to delivery date. Your Day to Day:

  • Maintain daily communication with project leads across a broad set of partners/teams, other project managers, product owners, designers, engineers and executives!
  • Work with team contributors that are across the globe. The core engineering team is 75% in KC/Central and some east coast. Agile ceremonies and working hours are in the central time zone.
  • Work with project leaders to define project timeline and hold them accountable for timely delivery to keep the project on track.
  • Build and broadly communicate/evangelize a project timeline and supporting documentation which includes but is not limited delivery dates, meeting cadence and agendas, completion status and report on the overall status of the team/project at any time.
  • Identify risk and facilitate mitigation actions through partner engagement, discussion, prioritization and action items.
  • Proactively "connects the dots" between platforms, interfaces, project lanes and development teams.
  • Run day-to-day agile ceremonies for multiple teams running similar but separate backlogs. May also need to act as scrum master.
  • Willing to get hands on with the product / application during project initiatives - this includes awareness of the UX/UI, project requirements and even testing.


Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience which must include serving as a lead project manager.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to clearly evangelize project goals, requirements, tasks and timelines.
  • Well-practiced and knowledgeable of the agile development workflow and able to take over and/or implement a process using those methodologies.
  • Strong leadership qualities that can guide strategic vision, delegate to others and drive overall project / program initiative to success.
  • Some technical knowledge on the stack, language, environment, iOS/Android platforms, etc. that the STPM can use to guide the team through technical discussions during the SDLC.
  • Proficiency in Jira/Confluence for tracking team tasks, reporting and documentation.


Additional Qualifications:

  • Past experience in a large scale internet based organization, media company or agency.
  • Experience as a developer, engineer etc. with understanding of Swift & Kotlin a plus - as well as exposure to Charles logging.
