Primary Responsibilities

Paramount Tech is hiring a Sr. Technical Engineer, Sports & Special Events. The Senior Technical Engineer will provide hardware and software support for critically important computer systems required for the broadcast of live and pre-taped events! The position requires a solid technical IT background to maintain on-air operations of server-based digital video and audio control systems, graphics and non-linear editing systems, teleprompters, automation systems, and their associated software and hardware infrastructure, as well as the engineering, design, implementation, and maintenance of Local and Wide Area Networks.

 

This position is responsible for…

  • Troubleshooting and quickly resolving technical problems occurring in a fast-paced on-air environment.
  • Collaborating with business partners to identify requirements and recommend solutions to fit business needs.
  • Assuming leadership functions to oversee the technical operation supporting remote productions and sporting events (Super Bowl, Final Four, etc).
  • Working with Users, Engineers, and Television Broadcast Maintenance personnel to install, configure, and troubleshoot broadcast applications and systems.
  • Generating and updating system documentation.

 

Basic Qualifications

  • Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or other advanced technical degree or five to ten years of equivalent work experience.
  • Hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience
  • Knowledgeable on industry cabling standards such as fiber, coax, Cat5/6
  • Working knowledge of Windows, MacOS, iOS, and Linux
  • Knowledge of network administration- routers/switches, subnetting, VLANs.
  • Experience documenting and maintaining configuration and process information.
  • Ability to follow directions and think independently when required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
  • Availability to travel for sporting events.

 

Additional Qualifications

  • Understanding of SQL, Signiant/Aspera, ENPS, and ENCO, is highly desirable.
  • Experience working with both studio and remote live productions is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Audio, Video, Control Systems, Fiber-Optics, and MPEG broadcast distribution systems preferred
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure while adapting to changing priorities and meeting the demands of a complex work environment.
  • Prior technology role in a dynamic broadcast environment is a plus!
  • CCNA/CCNP/AWS certifications, experience with streaming and cloud-based broadcast solutions, networking background and certifications, and work experience in a large studio or post-production facility
  • Experience working with commonly used IT technologies in broadcast facilities, such as networking, servers, and virtual machines (VMs)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

 

Hiring Salary Range: $115,000.00 - 135,000.00. The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.  The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable,  as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
