This is a full time position with the Late Show.

 

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is hiring a Field Producer. This person is responsible for the execution of comedy segments within the show, both live and on tape, and will generate ideas, pitch comedy and collaborate with writers/producers/director/crew on each segment. Must be accustomed to working under tight deadlines and have experience working with talent. 

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work on quick turnaround and large production pieces in the field and in-studio, taped and live.
  • Pitch creative ideas and oversee the development, production, and editing of scripts and segments that have been pitched by writers.
  • Oversee the pre-production of all elements with various departments (wardrobe, props, scenic, etc).
  • Direct all elements on set (talent, cameras, lighting, etc).
  • Oversee post production of pieces (working directly with show’s editors and graphic artists).
  • Run production meetings.
  • Manage an Associate Producer who will assist in selection elements, drafting of call sheets, schedules, and various logistics for shoots.
  • Work with production to ensure segments stay within budgetary constraints.

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum three years’ experience as a Field Producer or Director in Late Night/Comedy/Variety.
  • Must be able to travel for shoots outside of NY, domestically and abroad.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines with fast turnarounds.
  • Ability to shoot and edit a plus, but not necessary.
  • Must be a member, or prepared to join, the Directors Guild of America as producer will also serve as Segment Director for many of their segments.
