With bold goals that include the expansion of our US Operations and a commitment to Internationalization and Interplanetary entertainment, we are growing our Architecture Team to scale for the incredible road ahead. As the Streaming Software Architect you will help define and build the core systems that power PlutoTV’s video processing, playback and quality monitoring platforms for Free, Ad-Supported linear and VOD OTT streaming. Responsibilities:

  • Develop in-house tools and integrate with third-party tools for validation of design compliance of video services.
  • Support video engineering teams by working with technology partners and vendors by implementing smart technology solutions and tools to improve quality and performance.
  • Work on next generation transcoding and packaging platforms to establish feature-parity with existing platforms.
  • Participate in efforts to design, build, and support the end-to-end video streaming platform
  • Influence architectural decisions based on product requirements, high availability, massive scale, industry trends, performance metrics and emerging technologies
  • Build proof of concept and prototype for new video streaming technologies and features

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent practical experience
  • 4+ years of industry experience developing highly reliable software services that handle billions of daily transactions.
  • 4+ years building scalable, cloud based real-time OTT video streaming applications

 

Additional Qualifications:

 

  • A proven track record of measuring, monitoring, analyzing, and optimizing video streaming performance such as, packet loss, bitrate, compression, bandwidth considerations and latency on end-user devices
  • Proficiency with languages such as JavaScript, Node.js, and Go,
  • Experience dealing with video players on multiple platforms such as iOS, ExoPlayer, Roku, video.js and hls.js
  • Knowledge of OTT streaming protocols such as HLS and DASH
  • Experience dealing with video players on multiple platforms such as iOS, ExoPlayer, Roku, video.js and hls.js
  • Knowledge of OTT video delivery pipelines including basic networking and CDN concepts, source origination, video ingest and encoding, and packaging
  • Technical experience with cloud-based technologies, specifically within architecture/infrastructure (AWS)
  • Understanding of containerization as it relates it Cloud (Kubernetes, Docker)
  • Experience in the digital video workflows or digital video technology development is a plus
  • Strong documentation skills: ability to create compelling, meticulous documentation that sets up the engineering teams for success
