What you’ll do as a Video Platform Engineer: 

 

As the Video Platform Engineer you will be a key part in powering the technology that allows our audience to view their favourite shows from anywhere in Australia.

 

Functions will include, but not limited to:
 

  • Designing, implementing & configuring solutions for video playback; video transcoding & digital ad integration
  • Testing video and video playback solutions, troubleshooting problems, consulting to developers on how to detect and troubleshoot issues
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders (video streaming groups within Network 10 and ViacomCBS) and external vendors to plan, document and execute on the video technology roadmap
  • Technical support for production issues
  • Technical research and documentation

  

What are we looking for? What’s essential? 

 

  • 4+  years experience developing video streaming systems and/or platform integration
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a similar major
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of a modern programming language, and a willingness to learn and develop in Python
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of Internet technologies. Networking, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, TPC/UDP, CDNs, API’s
  • Experience working with and troubleshooting video players for web, mobile and connected TVs
  • Knowledge of various video encoding standards and best practices for video streaming 
  • Exceptional stakeholder/communication skills
