What you’ll do as a Chief of Staff, 10 News Sydney: 

As the Chief of Staff (News) you will be responsible for ensuring 10 News First goes to air smoothly at 5pm every night.  

Functions will also include: 


•    Finding and pitching compelling stories to attract, inform and engage our audience
•    You’ll be assigning daily resources for news gathering
•    Assigning journalists, crews and additional resources when necessary
•    Working closely with the production desk in Sydney and/or other markets
•    Helping organise the newsroom’s 24-hour coverage of news events
•    Managing staff roster


What are we looking for in a Chief of Staff? What’s important?  

•    5+ years experience in a newsroom (ideally free-to-air/television)
•    You’re a news junkie! You can quickly cut through the clutter!
•    Track record of creating compelling broadcast
•    Strong editorial judgement, you know what makes a good story
•    Exceptional multi-tasking skills, ability to prioritise and work under pressure
•    Boasts a great attention to the detail


Extra points for the following, but not necessarily required:  

•    A good knowledge of Sydney geography would also be a big help
