As a Director of Engineering on the Live Services Platform team, you will lead teams that build, scale, and operate our global live video services powering Paramount+, cbs.com and distributions


We're looking for an engineering director who encompasses strong technical knowledge with extensive experience in designing scalable systems, building agile teams, and strong communication skills to lead through all aspects of the development cycle. Your experience should highlight your scrappy and high energy nature to continuously improve systems while focusing teams on high value goals. In this role, you will partner with our video services product leads to develop a shared vision for the platform



  • Provide overall direction by analyzing business objectives, customer needs, developing and communicating clearly and deliberately
  • Design, build and support a global live services platform to orchestrate, and ensure the successful delivery of live events
  • Live and breathe availability and reliability
  • Build and evaluate the team's composition, health, and systems while striving for cohesion and delivery excellence
  • Create transparency and predictability through vision definition, roadmaps, planning and risk management
  • Cultivate an environment of respect, curiosity and innovation

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience leading software projects and managing teams
  • 10+ years of experience actively entrenched in code
  • Expert command of distributed microservice architectures and the following technologies
  • NodeJS, React, Java, Spring, Python, GCP, AWS
  • Extensive experience managing solutions from concept to delivery
  • Experience fostering cross functional team collaboration
  • Experience designing and improving systems across teams
  • Experience working in CI/CD environments with devops and SRE principles
  • Passionate about video and video services
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent project management skills leveraging industry standard tools e.g. JIRA
  • BA/BS degree in a related technical field such as Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience working in Agile frameworks e.g. SAFe
  • Previous experience leading distributed teams
