We are seeking a Director of Content Programming & Strategy to implement our Canadian content strategies for the Paramount+ streaming service. Focus on creating and collaborating on programming strategies to drive audience acquisition, retention, and growth.


This key role on the streaming content team will define and execute our content strategy. Working with other regional programming teams, the Director will implement and execute the programming and acquisition strategies while providing overall tracking to fuel performance. We need a dynamic, creative and disciplined leader with an expertise in content strategy and content acquisition! Report to the International SVP/Head of Programming & Acquisitions based in NY, the position will be based in Toronto, Canada.

-  Lead the creation and execution of the Canadian content strategy (SVOD Services) using ViacomCBS content assets, global acquisitions, international originals, and local original productions.

-  Lead a small team of individuals responsible for the scheduling and content planning documentation for the Canadian market.

-  Collaborate with both the Operations/Revenue and Marketing/Growth/Analytics Canadian teams on initiatives to drive monthly subscriber and MAU growth.

-  Mange the content budget, work closely with both central and local finance teams on accuracy, reporting, and uptick of issues.

-  Support the negotiation of favourable content rights to a variety of large catalogues to improve performance and revenue.

-  Partner with local content teams to develop innovative windowing strategies that use our linear investment and drive growth in streaming

-  Support the evolution and implementation of the editorial vision to drive growth and engagement for our international audience, while responding to cultural and consumer trends & business needs.

-  Coordinate and prioritize the content volume and composition to be delivered by Content Ops and ensure that content delivery processes are well executed.

-  Bachelor's degree and/or related experience.

-  5+ years of experience in one or more of the following: video streaming technologies, data applications, television programming, digital content management systems, cable network, or MVPD background.

-  Deep insight into television and multi-platform viewing habits and evolving media consumption patterns.

-  Strong creative programming instincts.

-  Deep understanding of scheduling and programming strategy.

-  Demonstrated ability to lead and maximize content across different channels and platforms.

-  Familiarity with traditional and digital audience data, streaming technologies, digital asset management, and scheduling tools.

-  Proven success using data to inform content development and programming strategies.



-  Understand complex licensing, co-production and/or business development agreements.

-  Strong verbal and written communications skills as well as adept at using influence and working effectively across internal and external organizations.

-  Strong analytical and quantitative skills, plus the ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions.

-  Capable of adapting rapidly in a fast-moving environment with shifting priorities and ability to react quickly, dynamically and intelligently.
