Multi-Skilled Journalist Sports

Sports MSJ will shoot, write and edit sports reports as well as anchor sportscasts and host sports shows. As a Sports MSJ, you will be assigned to cover and report stories both inside and outside the station and interview guests and contributors appropriate to the stories you are presenting. 

Basic Qualifications:
•    Must be able to gather, assemble and explain information on all stories assigned to you. 
•    Ability and willingness to shoot, write and edit VOs, VOSOTS and packages both in the station and on location is required on a daily basis.
•    You must write with a clear and engaging style, using video and graphics to illustrate facts and ideas in the story. 
•    Excellent live reporting skills in the studio and on location.
•    You must maintain a broad understanding of all sports and ability to tell stories about athletes, teams, leagues and issues, both local and national. 
•    Ability and willingness to work flexible schedules, including weekends.
•    Ability and willingness to travel to away games and events.

Additional Qualifications:
•   Must have at least four years’ comparable broadcast experience, with a minimum of three years as a Sports MSJ, working in a local market or network television news. 
•    Must have in-depth presentation and oral communication skills. 
•    Ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of personnel. 
•    Familiarity with the California region extremely helpful. 
•    Must be able to operate keyboard with accuracy and speed.
•    Maintain a valid California driver's license in order to drive to reporting locations.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Hiring Salary Range: $80,000.00 - 90,000.00. 

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.  The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable,  as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
